I initially discovered acupuncture as a last resort for an on-going ankle injury, which would have otherwise needed surgery. I was absolutely amazed with the results. Subsequently, I have continued with acupuncture and it has helped me through periods of stress and fatigue, headaches and head injuries, pregnancy and postnatal, as well as strengthening and stabilising my weak back and neck, and curing a chronic sore throat! Acupuncture is also wonderful when you’re not ill – just to keep you ticking over! I cannot recommend acupuncture in general and especially with Alex Wood highly enough.

I came to see Alex after an injury to my lower back. I arrived barely able to sit down or move about. After acupuncture treatment I was able to walk out to my car normally without looking I was 95 years old! Very highly recommended.

I began to see Alex for my M.E (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) and CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). Alex is a highly skilled acupuncturist with a thorough understanding of the principles of Chinese Medicine coupled with a warm, compassionate manner. His treatments are always relaxing and effective. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.

As a direct result of using acupuncture, I have been able to avoid the use of NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) to keep my osteon arthritis under control. I could not tolerate the use of NSAIDs and have been managing the pain for several years using ‘top up’ sessions of acupuncture as and when needed. Initially I had weekly appointments but it became unnecessary. The gap between the last two appointments was six months.

Initially acupuncture helped improve the RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) in my hands. Now I have acupuncture monthly- which helps my general health and wellbeing.

I have been suffering with lower back pain for several years. In 2011 my condition got worse and I had an x ray to find the extent of any damage. I was advised that the discs at C4/5, C5/6 (neck) and L4/5 (lower back) were worn and the reason for the pain and various other symptoms (extensive pins and needles, dead leg/ arm).
I had been taking over the counter co-codamol and then prescribed pain killers for a number of years, but I have never liked the thought of taking pain killers for long periods- which only conceal the pain but never solved it for long periods.
I decided to look for alternative methods to try and assist with the muscular pain and decided to have acupuncture. Alex’s practice was fantastic (NO it doesn’t hurt), with initially weekly appointments the muscular pains were disappearing and with maintaining regular appointments both pre and post my spinal fusion operation I have stopped taking pain killers altogether and I can get back to doing the things I like to do.
Alex is very professional, friendly and easy to talk to, about whatever ails you and I have no problem in recommending his practice to whoever is in pain. I know that if I ever hurt my back I can easily pick up the phone to ring Alex for an appointment.
